About me

Liz Broomfield booksHello there! Welcome to Liz Broomfield Books, a place where you can find out about the books I’ve written to help small businesses and self-employed people build, grow and mature their businesses.

On these pages you’ll find information about my books and news of launches, relaunches and new publications.

A bit about me … otherwise known by my married name, Liz Dexter, I’m an editor, proofreader, localiser and transcriber. I set up my business, Libro (very much part time) in August 2009 (and I launched this website on Libro’s fifth birthday!). When I went full time, I realised that there weren’t many resources out there for the cautious, risk-averse and perhaps older entrepreneur, so I blogged about my experiences, then turned that into a book. I’d already put together one book about how I lowered my high cholesterol naturally, so I knew something about the process, and I have gone on from there, learning as I’ve gone, and have written more books and guides. You’ll find pages on here in the Read My Books section about each book, including links for how to buy them from Amazon and non-Amazon suppliers.

In the rest of my life, I’m a keen gym-goer, I run and I volunteer helping community organisations with their social media. I read a lot (even though I edit a lot) and am doing some academic research at the same time.

I’m an indie publisher: I decided to go down the self-published route, while maintaining the high quality and values that I’d expect from any book I read. I am passionate about helping other people with their businesses, so I’ve kept the prices as low as I can and provided extras on my website: I’m never going to expect my readers to pay extra for additional material that I should be able to provide them for the cost of the book, and would rather give away free information than rip people off!

Find out more about me at my business website and my personal book review blog. I hope you enjoy this website and my books – if you have any suggestions or comments, please do get in touch!

  1. Happy Birthday Libro, I wish you wonderful success and prosperity. With Lizzy being its leader, Libro is already in safe hands and certainly will find its rightful place amongst the greatest. Big congratulations Lizzy on the new website for your books. I liked the color. It is light and appealing.

  2. Agree totally.
Too many authors have sites cluttered with news about their children or their chickens or their chilblains. While it’s nice to see that writers are real people and to get a glimpse of what else they do, it’s too easy for the information the reader really wants (or, more cynically, for the information that’s going to sell more books) to get lost. So I think it’s great that you’ve linked to your main business site and your personal blog rather than trying to squeeze it all into one place.
Oh, and yes, the books are great too – but I would say that, wouldn’t I? (see the Links page)

  3. Hi Liz, I’m also taking Jane’s Sept Marketing Challenge, so have stopped by to say hello and take a look around. Congratulations on writing so many worthwhile books already. I hope you have much success.

  4. Liz! This is very exciting for me to read about your life/career change! It is precisely what I am now just embarking on. It IS exciting, and also quite nerve-wracking to be doing this after a career in an entirely different field. Finding your story here is inspiring and a reminder that people do this – life is too short to not try. Stacia

    • It was a good choice, and at least it meant I was already set up to work from home when the lockdown came (although I could write another book on what it’s like when your life partner suddenly starts working from home, too!).
